It was a dark and stormy night

"It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents--except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness."
--Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, Paul Clifford (1830)

The Bulwer-Lytton award is given out annually for the worst first line of a make believe novel here is the 2010 winner announced at the end of June:

"For the first month of Ricardo and Felicity's affair, they greeted one another at every stolen rendezvous with a kiss--a lengthy, ravenous kiss, Ricardo lapping and sucking at Felicity's mouth as if she were a giant cage-mounted water bottle and he were the world's thirstiest gerbil."

July 2010 Goals

The following are my writing goals for the month of July.

I know. I'm sure you are asking yourself ... Where have I been the last month? Fair enough. Doing nothing. I just hit a wall between working, kids, the house, and everything else and sadly writing and this blog fell by the wayside.

But, you have some of these times in your life and you just have to get back up. Revise your goals and come up with a plan that will work.

So where do I stand
(1) Finish the first Draft of "The Oculist" - still working on it

(2) "Mindscape" a novel I finished 80,000 words but then stopped three years ago. I just can't figure this out. I'm thinking about tossing it aside and coming back in awhile. It just isn't working. But, I feel I've invested so much time in it, but hey if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

Okay see you in a couple of days
